Wild Camping
Wild camping is when the tent, caravan or mobile home is pitched away from campsites in the wild. Wild camping is only allowed with a tent in a few countries. These include the Scandinavian countries Finland, Norway and Sweden, where Everyman's Right applies. Wild camping is also allowed in the Baltic States, except in national parks with a tent. The prerequisite is always that nature is not damaged and campers do not leave any rubbish behind. In Germany the rules on wild camping are more complicated, as they are in Austria too. In Germany, the respective landowner should be asked in advance in any case. In addition, there are different regulations from federal state to federal state.
In France wild camping is generally prohibited. Exceptions must be requested from the respective municipality.
In Italy wild camping is not permitted and is punishable by fines if disregarded.
