AF/ArmaFlex is the reliable, flexible insulation material for long-term safe condensation prevention and, thanks to its unique micro-cell structure, ensures greater dimensional stability and easier processing. The optimum combination of extremely low thermal conductivity with high water vapor diffusion resistance helps to permanently prevent energy loss and water vapor penetration and reduces the risk of corrosion under the insulation. With its integrated antimicrobial Microban protection and excellent fire performance, AF/ArmaFlex is also particularly suitable for use in public buildings and process plants.

As an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) study has shown, air-conditioned building areas are often breeding grounds for microbes, leading to high levels of air contamination. Air inside buildings can have pollution levels up to 10 times higher than outdoor air. The cause of poor indoor air quality is often high levels of microbial contamination. Microbes found in or on building systems include discoloration and odors, causative bacteria, mold, and mildew. The microbes, in turn, release spores, cells, particles and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), contributing to the well-known "sick building syndrome." Mold and mildew also trigger biological or chemical degradation of materials.

AF/Armaflex is the first flexible insulation material to feature Microban technology. When microbes come into contact with the insulation surface, Microban protection penetrates the cell walls of the microorganism, rendering it non-functional and preventing growth and reproduction. This protection is established directly during the manufacturing process and cannot wash out or wear out.

As a result, AF/Armaflex products now have additional resistance to mold and mildew and are the optimal long-term solution for ventilation and air-conditioning systems in public buildings such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, office buildings and airports, as well as mechanical systems in the pharmaceutical or food industries.
