Product details

Maximum yield of the solar system through MPP technology High operational reliability due to microcontroller
Temperature compensation Stepless control, instant recharge

Product description

MPP solar controllers for high quality motorhomes and caravans. Votronic solar controllers of the "MPP" (Maximum-Power-Point) series with "IU1oU2" charging characteristic are connected as a link between solar panel(s) and battery(ies). With MPP technology, the controller automatically determines the maximum power point (MPP) of the solar modules several times per second
It then transforms the voltage surplus of the solar module to a higher charging current for the battery (realized by high frequency switching regulator technology with high efficiency). This charging current gain ensures shorter charging times and the best possible power utilization of the solar system. The MPP solar controllers operate fully automatically and are maintenance-free.

Details
  • MPP charge current increase compared to conventional controllers by 10% to 30% (efficiency > 95%) due to the use of the latest controller technology (microprocessor). The increase in performance is particularly noticeable during the cooler seasons and, for example, during periods of high snow, low and diffuse lighting (hibernation).
  • For charging lead-gel, lead-AGM, lead-acid batteries or LiFePO4 complete batteries (with integrated BMS, balancing, safety circuit and approval!) of the specified nominal voltages and the co-supply of consumers connected to these batteries in permanently installed systems with the specified battery capacities and charging programs.
  • The charging voltage is free of peaks and regulated in such a way that overcharging of the batteries is excluded.
  • Two battery charging outputs: Automatic charging of the main supply on-board battery (BORD I) and back-up charging and charge maintenance (max. 1 A) of the vehicle starter battery (Start II) with protection against overcharging.
  • monitoring-free charging: Standard protection against overload, overheating, reverse polarity and battery back discharge (in case of insufficient solar power e.g. dusk, night etc.).
  • Parallel/buffer operation: Compliance with charging regulations even with simultaneous operation of loads.
  • overcharge protection: regulates the charging current of the battery back in case of too much solar power and full battery, ensures the highest possible state of charge of the battery in case of power consumption by immediate recharging.
  • "IU1oU2" charging characteristic: defined charging voltage increase (U1) prevents harmful acid stratification (lead) and provides equalization charging of individual battery cells (lead and lith.), then automatic trickle charging (U2).
  • Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses on the charging cables are automatically compensated.
  • On-board power supply filter: problem-free parallel operation with wind and motor generators, mains chargers, alternators, etc.
  • Measurement output for EBL, possibly existing electric block in the living area of the vehicle: Allows the convenient use of a (solar) current display built into the electric block to check the solar system.
  • Please make sure to check the compatibility of your Schaudt electric block (EBL) and the corresponding control and display panel in advance, as we cannot assume any warranty for this.
  • Switching output "AES" (only MPP 250, MPP 350 and MPP 430): Causes automatic switching of refrigerators with "AES" (Automatic Energy Selector, Electrolux / Dometic) from gas to 12 V operation in the event of permanently abundant solar power surplus.
  • Connection for battery temperature sensor (Art.-No. 2001): In case of lead batteries, the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the battery temperature, causes a better full charge of the weaker battery in cold weather, in summer temperatures unnecessary battery gassing and load is avoided.
  • LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high and especially at low temperatures.Highly recommended when the battery temperature may drop below 0°C during operation.
  • Plug-ready for connection of Votronic solar display units LCD-Solar Computer S for optimal control of the system.
Loading programs
  • 1 "Gel": Charging program for gel batteries, characteristic IU1oU2: Tuned to sealed, gas-tight gel/dryfit batteries with fixed electrolyte, which generally require a higher charge voltage level and longer U1 holding times to achieve short charge times with particularly high capacity storage and to avoid long-term battery "starvation".
  • 2 "AGM": Charging program for AGM/fleece batteries, characteristic IU1oU2: Intended for charging sealed, gas-tight AGM (Absorbent-Glass-Mat) batteries in lead-fleece technology, which require a particularly high U1 level with coordinated holding times for full charging and then a moderate U2 level for charge maintenance (plate and round cell technology).
  • 4 "UNIVERSAL": Charging program for lead-acid/wet/AGM batteries, characteristic IU1oU2: Universal program for charging and charge retention of acid batteries in vehicles (mixed mobile/stationary). With medium U1 level, still provides short charge times, good charge factor and good acid mixing for open and closed, low-maintenance, maintenance-free standard, traction, lighting, solar and heavy duty batteries, as well as AGM batteries with normal U1 level.
  • Li "LiFePO4": Charging program for lithium batteries, characteristic IU1oU2: Charging program adapted to lithium LiFePO4 batteries with own BMS and prescribed or built-in protective circuit.
