How does the silver net for water tanks work?
The core of the silver mats is the proven silvertex mesh for effective and long-lasting water preservation based on silver ions. Silvertex is an innovative 3D knitted fabric (technical textile) and was developed in cooperation with German universities and scientific institutes especially for the preservation of drinking and industrial water. The material consists of polyester, polyamide and silver. Used as a preservative for water, the effect of silver mesh is based on contamination prevention.

It is not without reason that silver is said to have a germ-inhibiting (bacteriostatic) and germ-reducing (bactericidal) effect. Water conservation with silver nets makes use of this principle. On contact with water or moisture, the silver ions dissolve from the silver mat all by themselves, since it is metallic silver and not nanosilver. The released silver ions attach themselves to potential pathogens, thereby damaging the cell membrane and inhibiting the development of new bacteria. This process is self-regulating and repeats until the silver ions in the material are completely depleted. The proven technology starts at the very first contact with water.

There is no danger of overdosing with silver. The concentration of dissolved silver ions in drinking water cannot exceed the permissible limit values. Each substance dissolves only up to a certain concentration - the point of chemical equilibrium.

Note: Silver ions make it possible to preserve drinking water for as long as possible. However, you cannot use it to purify river water or tap water without drinking water guarantee and make it drinkable!

Silver meshes from Silvertex: water preservation in 3 steps
The application of silver mats in water tanks is very easy and can be done in just a few steps:

Step 1: Fill fresh water into a clean water tank or container of your choice. Make sure that it really is drinking water from a trustworthy tap. To be on the safe side, you can check the water quality in advance with a quick water test or use a filling filter.

Step 2: Remove the silver mat from its packaging and place it as centrally as possible in the tank. The silver mat should not rest directly on the bottom of the tank, but at the same time it should be completely covered by water. You can use the supplied jig for this if necessary.

Step 3: Simply use preserved water.

The flexible net is suitable for stainless steel and plastic tanks with a filling volume of up to 25 l, 50 l, 120 l and 240 l each - depending on the size of the silver mat. With the included "easy out" retrieval device, you can easily remove or replace the mat from your tank at any time. If you ever do not need the silver mat, it is best to store it in a dry state in a place protected from light.

Good to know: The material is not suitable for tanks made of aluminum or steel, as there is a risk of corrosion here!

** Leaving water in your RV during the winter is not a good idea. Although the water lines are usually made of soft plastic that is flexible to a certain degree, the connectors to the tank or faucet are usually made of a harder material. Since water expands when it freezes, this stress can cause parts of the water system to break. To counteract this, drain all water from the tank and pipes to dry out the system. Don't forget the pump and boiler when doing this. you can also wipe the tank dry with a rag via a possible service hatch. If no water remains anywhere, nothing can freeze.
