Product description

This low cost/high performance deep discharge protector protects your valuable solar battery from harmful deep discharge. It is suitable for use with lead-acid, lead-gel and lead-AGM batteries. Different cut-off and reset voltages can be defined as required. The deep discharge protection is protected against short circuit by a 6.3 A fine-wire fuse. The device's own current consumption is only 3 - 6 mA.

Priority principle
The priority principle allows you to specify that when the battery charge drops, loads are switched off according to priority (urgency). Each consumer must be preceded by its own deep discharge protection, where the desired cut-off voltage has been selected.

Dynamic deep discharge protection
The dynamic deep discharge protection determines the remaining battery capacity from the battery voltage and load current. It therefore offers more intelligent protection than conventional controllers with a constant load disconnection threshold.
Example: The battery voltage at which consumers with high current consumption are switched off is lower than that of consumers with low current consumption. However, the remaining capacity in the battery after disconnection is the same in both cases. As soon as the battery has been recharged and the load reset threshold (reset voltage) has been exceeded, the loads are automatically switched back on.

Constant deep discharge protection
When using batteries with high internal resistance (small battery capacity or already sulfating batteries), dynamic deep discharge cut-off can lead to premature load cut-off. Switching to constant end-of-discharge voltage 11.1 V (for 12 V systems) or 22.2 V (for 24 V systems) may be useful to draw more current from the battery.

clear LED status display
At a glance, the charge status of the battery can be seen by means of 3 LEDs. Furthermore, the LEDs indicate whether deep discharge is imminent or whether the load output has already been switched off.

Application example - Prioritized disconnection
Prioritized shutdown of various devices in the vacation home:
The switch-off of the consumers is prioritized by assigning a specific switch-off voltage to the respective deep discharge protection
Less important consumers (e.g. TV) are connected to the deep discharge protection with the highest cut-off voltage (12 V). They switch off first.
If the battery voltage drops even further, the second deep discharge protection (switch-off voltage 11.7 V) deactivates the consumers with higher priority (e.g. lighting).
The consumers with the highest priority (e.g. emergency lighting, radio system) are connected to the third deep discharge protection (cut-off voltage 11.3 V) and are the last to switch off.
