But why does coffee actually stay hot in a vacuum jug? The effect lies inside the vacuum jug Temperature differences equalize from the warmer to the colder - that's what the second law of thermodynamics says. But how does the vacuum jug ensure that the temperature inside the jug does not adjust to the outside temperature? The jug is equipped with a double-walled insulating flask, which is made of either glass or stainless steel.
