Gel Battery
In a gel battery, positive and negative electrodes are surrounded by an electrolyte. The addition of silicic acid makes the electrolyte gel-like. This means that the gel battery, for example, cannot leak. Gel batteries are also less sensitive to vibrations and can withstand more charge cycles than conventional lead-acid batteries. The low-maintenance batteries are very suitable for storing electricity from mobile PV systems when camping, but are heavier than, for example, AGM batteries.
