Gas Cartridge
A gas cartridge is a small container filled with gas, used for camping stoves or gas lamps. Gas cartridges are available in different versions. The cartridge with screw valve is screwed directly onto the gas cooker. If the camping stove is not being used or transported, the cartridge is unscrewed again. This closes the valve of the cartridge. So-called "pierceable cartridge" are most commonly used for camping. A mandrel pricks the cartridge as soon as it is placed in the unit. After lancing, the pierceable cartridge should be used up soon, as the gas mixture will escape from the cartridge in the long run. Gas cartridges with bayonet valve are additionally fixed with a special lever (called bayonet). They are considered very safe and can also be connected to screw valve gas appliances with an adapter. Regardless of the version, all cartridges should always be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. It is also essential to keep them away from direct sunlight and open fires.
