Biofilm
Biofilm is a layer of mucus that serves as a breeding ground for various microorganisms . These include fungi and legionella as well as various bacteria.
Biofilms form mainly in wetlands, because the biofilm contains mainly water in addition to the microorganisms.
Biofilms tend to form in the fresh water tank of caravans and mobile homes, which is why it must be cleaned regularly. In principle, however, biofilms are not bad; they are used, among other things, for vinegar production and in biological waste disposal.
